Mackerel or Bangda cutlets
Updated: Jul 14, 2019
Bangda or mackerel fish is not my favourite just because it has too many bones. BUT I love it as cutlets. No bones to pick! :)
I have had bangda cutlets the Goan way. But due to unavailability of Goan vinegar, I have twisted the recipe and adapted so that I can relish bangda, just my way!

Ingredients for cutlets:
One big mackerel that's cleaned, marinated in salt and turmeric powder and steamed
one medium onion chopped
2tbs ginger garlic paste
chopped green chilies as per preference
chopped cilantro
one tsp Chili powder
half tsp turmeric powder
salt as per taste
one tsp garam masala
one tbs malt vineger
2tbs bread crumbs
Method: 1 - Debone the mackerel and and make it flaky 2 - Add chopped onions, ginger, garlic, green chilies as per preference to the fish flakes. 3 - Add red chili powder, turmeric, salt and malt vinegar (you may use regular) 4 - Now add the bread crumbs 5 - Mix all the ingredients to make a dough.
6 - Take lemon sized ball and shape into as you like, dab in semolina and pan fry with very little oil on medium low flame until both sides are firm and crusty
